Boy do the Baron kits have alot of parts!!!! Can someone explain why they have that small spring in the cap. Just another part to lose. I do not see why a fixed refill needs to be spring loaded. Am I being too picky???:)

John the spring is there because not all rollerball refills are the same size , without it some would be too loose or not fit at all . Different companies have different lengths , all very close but not the same

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. After making a few, and over trimming a few barrels just a bit, I think the spring allows for a little bit of variance in barrel length.

The spring also protercts the roller tip from being destroyed by those who have become "heavy handed" from using ballpopint pens. You are using too much pressure if you are compressing the spring while writing.
