Ive only done one of the above to date but noticed that the little spring that goes in the end for the refill to sit on is narrower at one end than the other.
Which way should this spring be inserted in the end cap or doesn't it matter?
The instructions I have dont state.
Can someone enlighten me please?
Regards, Bill

I always put the narrower part of the spring against the refill. I'm not sure if there is an absolute proper way, but my theory is to minimize the wider part of the spring spreading and going around the refill.

That's 2 of us for big end in. I always put the big end in the chrome cup and a drop of thick CA. Haven't had any trouble in a lot of pens. BTW, if you lose a spring, Sears Hardware is the only one that has a spring the right diameter and compression. It is long enough to cut in half and get 2 springs for 96 cents. HD and Lowes do not have a spring that will work.......today's trivia!!
