Bamboo problem

Pen gods, I turned a pen out of bamboo. It was fine (although not very interesting), until I finished it (with the Hut Crystal Coat). Suddenly it has unactractive grey streaks running through it. Anyone experience this? Is it the wrong finish to use? And can it be fixed?

I've turned a few bamboo, and never seen that. I usually finished with Mylands Friction which is apparently much the same thing.

Just had the same problem on a BOW pen today. ( not the first time, I might add )
Too much Hut, not enough friction.
I sanded it down again and re-finished it. Lots of LIGHT coats, rather than 1 heavy one.

Ive turned lots of bamboo and never had that but I dont use Hut. Mylands or poly works for me
