Pat; An arbor is a shady area or a latticework bower entwined with roses or vines. For your application it is called an arbor press and is usualy used to remove or install bearings on a shaft or axel. Pen turners use them to press fittings or tubes into blanks. Jim S

Yes Dan, the expandable mandrel is used by a lot of call makers. Ray

I knew that it was a popular method I'm curious if it's what he uses.

I'd like to get one for duck calls but I don't know that I'm going to turn enough of them to make the purchase worthwhile About $40 if I remember correctly

I just watched the Capt'n Eddie call video it is good. A way of doing it on the cheap if you are only going to make a couple of calls.

I did one with jamb chuck type bushings on either end. Came out fine but arbor type mandrel or pin Chuch seems so much better.

I like capt Eddie but his videos are way way too long. :)
