Applying Decals under CA finish

Ok, so I'm going to be making a couple pens with a custom logo decal in the CA finish.
I was wondering if it is better to apply the decal directly to the wood after sanding and then applying the CA finish. Or to apply a couple coats of thin CA and then apply the decal, then finish over that?

You need a non-porous, smooth surface to apply the decal to.

When I do mine I put at least 5 ca and then polish that, apply the decal and then cover that with at least 8 ca. I cut the decal as close to the image as possible.

Ok, I figured applying the decal after applying some CA would be better then applying it directly to the wood.
