I recently acquired several rollerball and fountain pen kits. The label reads as follows:
The House of Woodturning
Craft Supplies Ltd
Derbyshire

The it has another label with the ShopSmith name on it and the following:
IB707DS Black Topped Classic Roller Ball

IB707DS Classic Stle Fountain Pen

I know Craft Supplies Ltd is in England. I went to their website and found the kits. There's information about the bit size and mandrel, but nothing about bushings or directions.

Anybody know where I can get bushings and the kit instructions?

1. Cut pieces of material to length of tube plus a little.
2. Drill hole to fit tube.
3. Put on lathe, turn till you're tired of turning
4. Assemble
5. Measure how far off you are.
6. Make next kit better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![:D][:D][:D]

Actually, let's put in 2A and 2B into Ed's instructions:
2A: Measure components
2B: Make bushings that correspond to component measurements

Ok, here's all I've got, not much I'm afraid[V]

The number IB707DS refers to the Black top rollerball
The fountain pen is IB708DS.
In the catalogue, both take 'B' mandrel and '6' bushings using a 9.5mm drill.
The bushings set are listed as part SG197 and cost £3.95
The 'B' mandrel is just an 8mm mandrel.

If you send them an e-mail, you might get lucky and they will measure the bushings for you. I have bought loads of stuff from them, but they can be a bit slow answering e-mails.

I use homemade conical bushes and mic my pens to each kit.
Hope this has helped

See? Now isn't skiprat the kind of helpful IAP member that YOU would all like to be? I may just move to the UK. Plus .... you guys didn't see Tom making any kind of hilarious jokes, did you? I'll post pictures. Thanks everybody! [:D]

When I checked the website they quote

"This Black Top Fountain Pen makes and excellent addition to your desktop. Requires 7mm Pen Mandrel, Mandrel Sleeve #A (SG192) and 9mm drill bit to complete. Make a matching set with either a Roller Ball Pen (IB707DS) or Ball Point Pen (IB706DS). "

Best to mic the tubes. I have made these pens before but I can't remember what drill they need. They go together really easily - lay the parts out and have a look.

Skiprat ......
Thank you so much for taking the time to scan and post that information!

About sending those pens ...... at the risk of my mail being opened, why not send my wife and I two round trip plane tickets. We'll hand deliver them!

Incidentally, I've never seen the word "skiprat" before. I've found some very interesting definitions online. Hmmmmmmmmm ... skiprat. [:)]
