Anybody have the new A.S. gemstone blanks yet?

I am looking at trying a bunch of these with my order next week. I really like the azurite, the white and gold ones, the pink, and red/orange ones, the leopard... Who am I kidding, I like them all!

Would these take a thread, for making a traditional style fountain pen, or would they be too hard and brittle? It sure would be fun to make an old style pen from that ivory colored blank. I am afraid that I would have a hard time threading the inside of the cap with this stuff.

Do they all pretty much turn the same? I will take the time necessary to figure out the material, but I always like to know if one color is different from all of the others before I blow out the blank on the first pass. (D.A.M.H.I.K.T.!)

They look like Tru-stone to me.

I've not turned any from AS, but these look very similar to Tru-Stone blanks from CSU. Those turn similar to acrylics, although some are harder than acrylics.

They are actually the same material that you can get from RTResearch - http://www.rtresearch.net/ the pliable blocks.
