Made one(1) MB style(EURO)pen in UHMW. I can only say it became the only one that I disassembled and recovered for pen parts. The colour is 'bland' and proved impossible to sand no matter what grit(s) I tried. Could not put a 'shine' on this pen, even my buffing shaft/wheels could not save it. The blank resembled a scattered 'ball' of string when I had finished. Despite the fact that I have another ten(10) blanks remaining, I would not turn UHMW again nor would I ever consider giving it to a friend unless I wanted to lose the friendship[}:)]

Also, these polishing mandrels are UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene.) As peter said, unless you machine it perfectly to the right diameter and finish, there's no going back to finish over them. It doesn't take sanding well.

I made a few cones for use in pushing tubes into blanks. It will machine, glue cleans off it nicely, and it makes great jigs. It always looks like plastic.

Funny I have a big piece of this and it crossed my mind to cut it into blanks!![:D] I also have some yellow stuff that was supose to be "self healing" and hold up to my manufacturing process--Didn't work.
