Antler Pen cracked

Man am I bummed...

Last Saturday, I turned a Sierra pen using Axis Antler. I've been showing it off for two days around work, then tonight I notice that it has cracked on me. The antler had been in my drawer for a year so I know it was acclimated. I was careful drilling, treated the inside with CA. Used thick CA to mount the tube. Left the barrel a little thicker than I would normally when turning it. Used a CA finish. And still it treats me this way...must be something personal

Think I will just write off antler as not my kind of material.

If you have too much to get in a box to eagle feel free to send the rest to me in Texas. I will have several "big game" experts examine it and submit a report to you as to what exactly went wrong and exactly how you prevent the problem if you ever get antler again!
