I would like to use some of HUT's custom finial logos on some pens. They appear to be made only for the flat top Americlassic series. Problem is I do not have the Americlassic mandrel and cannot purchase one as HUT does not make one to fit my lathe which takes a 0 taper or a 3/4 x 16.
My question is will the Americlassic finial work with any other kit. or is there anyone else out there that sells logo kits

Option 1 - Woodcraft makes bushings for the same kit that will fit a standard 1/4 inch mandrel part # (06S89) I think.
http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=1609

option 2 - (expensive) get adapter to change threading to 1x8

and get collet chuck to hold B mandrel
http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/cgi-bin/shopper?search=action&keywords=beall-chuck
or

option 3 - find a collet chuck that will fit directly for you lathe and use that to hold the mandrel.

Robert,
My Klien lathe is like yours. I used the Jacobs chuck at first but went to a mandrel that screws on to the head stock with the 3/4" 16 tpi

Do they make them in a B mandrel?

Don't think the americlassic takes any special mandrel. If so, I've been doing it all wrong for a long time. Here is a mandrel that will fit your headstock. http://www.pennstateind.com/store/pkm-al.html
Maybe the americlassic takes a little longer mandrel but you could turn one barrel at a time. The americlassic rod only may screw into the mandrel holder from PSI. The rod on the one from PSI will unscrew from the holder. Don't know if the threads are the same. Good luck.
Do a good turn daily!

Sounds like a sherline -- I use a taig and have a 3/4 by 16 by 1/4-28 head stock adapter. I got it from PSI several years ago. All the mandrels I have tried have 1/4-28 threads including the berea "b", berea "a", PSI, and a stubby short mandrel. I filed flats on a couple of the rods to fit a wrench and assist in changes.

another option is a beal or axminister chuck, or use of the collets that are made for the lathe. The 1/4 inch mandrels fit the collets that come for the Taig, but the berea "b" will require machining a custome collet so have not yet gone that route.
