Hi Les,
Alt Ivory is a cast polyester resin, it can be drilled and turned using normal tools, it works better if the tools are nice and sharp.
Can be finished to a nice high sheen, most poeple use the same treatment as they do for most of the acrylic blanks, i wet sand using micro-mesh then use a automotive polish for the final finish.

I stand corrected, UK penmaker has it right. Cast polyester is the material that is generally used as an ivory alternative.
