Alabaster Finish

Question for those of you that have done alabaster pens, do you put any finish on it or just polish the stone? I just completed one and it seems a little dull. Maybe it is just the stone I had.

MM wet sander, car polish finish then buffer

I like it without a finish. I think it should feel and look like rock.
