Myself being messing with pens for a few months now would highly suggest someone new to this venture, spend a little shop time with someone that has been turning for awhile. I did that yesterday after our IAP Ga meeting, and it was enlightening.

Just picking up little simple tricks was worth the time ... like using the tube insert tool to hold the tube while gluing, using a sanding disk to square blanks, seeing a celtic knot procedure, shop towels for CA .... a little here and there will make my time in the shop better!

So ... find someone, bring a few blanks and hang out for a bit!

If any one wants to come to Unionville Tn and hang out I am here most of the time........
have 2 lathes and I am willing to learn (or help out anyone) tis is why I love this forum have met some great folk on here and some of the best friends I have are ones that I met on this forum.
