Acrylic blank with decal??

I would like to make a pen for my daughter who is granulating from Nurses School in the fall. So here is the question: I want to use a white acrylic blank and use a personalized water slide decal. What finish(s) can I apply over the decal.

Any other suggestions? I want white pen with gold parts.

CA, thin, medium or thick your choice. I use thin but thats a personal preference.
