When I started into turning I picked up a starter kit from my local Rockler store to get me started. They also had their 7MM Streamline Ballpoint Pen Hardware Kit on sale so I picked up a couple kits. With all of this I make my first and favorite pen (pic below). Yes the pen is cracked and I did not know the value of the Olive Wood that it is made out of, but still my favorite pen...

I purchased some more kits online (I think from CSUSA). They look the same, but the mechanism is MUCH cheaper and does not have the same feel as the one from Rockler...

Does anyone know who makes the ones that Rockler stocks? and... Who else may carry them at a better cost?

Thanks, Russ

I have found over the last year the transmission and refill have changed.

The transmission moves easier which have a lower quality feel, though they are easier to use one handed.

The refill seems to be of a finer point and do not flow as easy.

Rockler kits are mainly Berea kits with a few others thrown in. I would guess the slimnline streamline you asked about is the
Berea variety and Berea kits are sold by http://www.arizonasilhouette.com , http://www.beartoothwoods.com ,and http://www.exoticblanks.com .

Thank you! It is getting confusing on who makes what, because I am new I have been buying from many sources to see what I like to work with. The ones that you named are who I like so far...

I like your quote.. "Do a good turn daily!" Works with me on many levels.. ;)
