I want to make this pen tomorrow and send it to my son in camp.

Since I never made one like this - I have a few questions - if anyone every made one like this

1.What color wood would look good- I don't like the cutesy camo they show?

2. Any problems that I need to look out for?

3. I figure he will get other kids at camp wanting one, what would be a typical retail price?

4. I'm sending it across the border from Canada to the US - are customs likely to stop it . . since its a bullet?

IMO, darker woods look best.
I've made a few now and have used lighter and darker woods, and camo from Beartooth..
The camo looks and sells best, but the darker wood looks better of the woods.

There should be no problem from Canada to the US but remember that in most instances they don't allow brass to be taken home from Afghanistan and I'm not sure about Iraq. You can take the brass in but cannot take it out.
