1/2" Drill Chuck/2MT

For those of you that use your lathe for drilling blanks, how do you attach the blank and do you use the drill chuck in the headstock or tailstock? This probably sounds ridiculous, but if I don't ask, I'll never learn.

Some use collet chucks in the headstock and turn the blanks to 3/4"round first to mount. Others like myself, who don't yet have a collet chuck but have a four jaw chuck (mine is a Oneway Talon), use it to hold the blank at the headstock and slowly advance the drill using the tailstock.

I put the drill chuck in the tailstock so I can use my Nova chuck to hold the blank. I believe this is the most common.

I drill the square blank in a little 4 jaw chuck I got from PSI.. with the drill bit and jacobs chuck in the tail stock..

This is the little chuck I use.. I will hold just about any shape blank I need...but not much over 1 inch square...
