IAP 2011 BIRTHDAY BASH TRIVIA CONTEST-19 FEB QUESTION



Welcome
to the nineteenth day of this year's
IAP TRIVIA CONTEST !!!




We will aim to start each daily contest by 12 noon ET on a given day; but TriviaMeister schedules may necessitate earlier or later starting times. Regardless of the starting time, you will have until noon ET of the following day to email your answer for the contest question. Please be sure to include your IAP screen name with your answer so we know who you are.



All entries "postmarked" before noon ET of the contest closing day will be placed in a hat(electronic hat, actually) and two winners selected. The winners will be the first entry selected at random that is valid and have the correct answer to the contest question. The winner will be announced on contest closing day at 8 P.M. ET (or thereabouts as the TriviaMeister's schedule permits) and the decision of the TriviaMeister will be final.

According to IAP members, what it the average dollar amount of pens sold in 2010?

The TriviaMeisters have decided there will be "NO" limit on the number of times any one person can win a prize. If you know your stuff and are lucky in the draw, you could win as many as 28 prizes!!!

would a range of +/- $100 be an acceptable answer? Reading about 100 threads on pricing brings everything from low double digits to mid tripples...

This is the first one I haven't been able to get the answer to ( I was incorrect on one other). I'll be eager to see where the answer was found. Good luck to all!

Only 60 some entries, must have been a hard one!!!

Here's how I found it.
I remembered we had a poll about the number of dollars of pens members sold, so I went to "Forum\Polls surveys and votes"
Changed the "display" option to 100 days (default was 10 and it did not show up with this setting), hit search and third one was "What were your gross sales for 2010"?,

Opened that and 44% of the respondants said
"hobby-Sales under $1000"

Which would be the correct answer to the trivia for that day.

I didn't enter because I mistook this to mean the average dollar amount PER PEN... after searching threads for about an hour the best answer I could come up with was somewhere between $25 and $300... Didn't figure that answer was even worth trying, and knowing my luck my number would have come up with the wrong answer...

I was also confused about the wording of the question, but this entry by the "Triviameister" made me believe I had the answer he was seeking:

Ed, it's strange that I could remember reading this thread ,but couldn't have the search display it when I did a search and didn't figure out what was wrong, now I can see that if you don't change the parameters then you only get what was searched at last time. That's why I didn't enter, but thank that at least you taught me a little trick in searching.
