The first one is made from Cocobolo and Maple. I've been making seam rippers for my MIL and sending them to her so she can sell them to her little old lady friends to make some bingo money. This was one of the blanks I made up and decided to turn it on a pen instead. I call it ying yang 
The second one was turned a while ago and I don't even know what the material is but I do know that it was hard. It had a leathery look to it and I was going to make grip panels out of it but got involved in pen turning so I put it to good use anyway.
