X Cut Spalted Hackberry

I was fortunate to leave David's shop with a few of Louis's blanks. These are the best looking spalted blanks I have ever seen. It was cross cut and fun to turn. I hope that i done this one proud. My pic does not do the pen justice. It is a slimline kit and I left the wood a little beefy to show off the grain in the wood. It has 6 coats of BLO/CA finish on it.

If you ever get a chance to get your hands on some of Louis's blanks, you cant go wrong.

Thanks Craig, I did learn that you have to have sharp tools and patience when turning spalted wood. It is growing on me though along with burls.
