I took some punky black ash burl cap end pieces and scrolled some random wave patterns into it. Then I took a coffee jar and filled it near full with water and transfast blue dye. I stuck the wood in the jar then put it in the pot for better than a week..pressure not vacuum..I don't have vacuum. I didn't expect the wood would completely dye blue, and it didn't , but it did have a pretty cool penetrating effect better than I expected. I did let the wood dry for 2 months before casting and turning into this pen. It's pretty sharp..had I known it would look so good I would have used a better kit than a cigar. Good thing I have a couple more of this blank! Hope the pictures are ok. I took them outside. Oh..finish is Acrylic.
