Thanks for the kind words.

No finish, Brotherdale. The woods are hard enough to get a high sheen just by polishing. I sometimes do a CA finish on kingwood, but I rather feel the bare wood under the skin...

Awesomeness, thank you for sharing Pierre!
I have some of these wood, I have some of the taps and dies, I guess I'm going to give it another try one of these days. So far I've gotten pretty dismal results in my attempts at threading wood but you show that it can be done! Any wood species you tried and didn't work? Any attempt with boxwood (buis)?

Boxwood is great for threading. Light woods are the worst, but impregnating with CA or linseed oil may help.

If you want to thread wood, you may use taps, but you have to forget using dies, take a 10 000 rpm cutting tool instead!

Beautiful pens Pierre. I have a piece of Lignum that I would like to try this with, but I too have struggled with cutting threads in wood.

I am not sure I understand what you mean for cutting exterior threads. What type of 10,000 rpm tool you are referring to. Are you referring to a Dremel type tool? I would love to see a picture.

Thanks

Darrin, I use a stronger machine than a Dremel, but it is the same. In front is the threading machine, home made on the same idea as Hope's threading jig. Here are the tools I use, made from a HSS bar. Hope it helps.
