Wine Barrel Oak

I came into some oak barrel staves from a wine barrel.

This first one is segmented with purpleheart and finished with CA

The second one was turned to final shape and then soaked in red wine to "restore" the color. I think this should have worked, but I messed up doing the finish and will have to do some rescue work.

I think I like the idea of this one, at least

Please post how your second soaker turns (no pun) out. I have been thinking about staining some pen blanks with wine to see how they turn out.
