I don't know what wood it is but thought I'd try one anyway. What are they called anyway? It is shown with the first pen I ever turned, curly maple slimline.

I called the combination holder and pen a "desk set". I know, I know, it was a VERY creative choice.

Nice job with yours!

I know that its not Oak, it had "Ama" on it...IIRC. It is horrible for turning, it just chipped away and flew everywhere. Glad I just have the little chunk of it.

Lets see... a name, pen cushion LOL, pen stander-upper, pen vase, well maybe not.

I think the Humajobby looks great (that crack's me up[:D][:D][:D]) Nice Job on it... I agree with other's I think it's either a Pen Funnel (with a small hole all the way through) or a Desk Set.
