I'll guess that the casein was turned and then lasered. Then re-cast in
red PR and turned again. If I'm right, do I get a star? :tongue:

I'm looking forward to doing something like this soon. It's been on my list
of things to try, but I never quite got around to it.
This pen should get me re-motivated. it looks great!

Close but no star. Casein was turned, red PR cast around, turned again, then CNC all the red away except for the dragon. Took 4 tries and considerable set up time. Requires near 0 run out.

Charlie,

I believe this method would result in flying PR. The bond to the casein is unlikely to be strong enough to stay attached as PR is removed.

The method is, however, interesting. Try it with PR and PR, rather than casein.

Just my 2 cents worth-----you're welcome!!:biggrin::biggrin:

PR stuck to my casein real well.

NEAT!!! But, based on minimum hourly wage, I'd guess about $7000????:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Yeah - but the second one I could get down to $6500:)

I was privileged in that Bruce shared with me some of the WIP on this one. The photos that were posted really don't give the true 3D sense of the Red Dragon. Heck I don't think this one does either. But each flap in the wing is curved and rounded in full relief, as are the armored scales on the body. From the itty bitty claws down to the loop in the tail, this is a full 3d carve.

I can only guess at the amount of hours and skill that went into this. It is truly an amazing thing!! Kudos' Bruce! :cool: :tongue:
