Well this was by far the WORST craft show that I've attended in a long time ! :(:(

$45.00 for a table for the 2 days and $20.00 in sales !! :(:(

The one , and only , sale I made was to another vendor who's wife is a reporter for a local newspaper and always complains about never being able to find a pen when she needs it , so he was looking for a pen that's on a neck chain or string , etc. , and wanted to know if I could make one for him . I said sure but it would be a while for me to get the parts . When I did check out the kits , I found that the pen is only 3" long , and decided that that wasn't what he wanted so I came up with the pen shown below .
I simply took the top and clip off the pen design that he liked and replaced it with the top section from a key ring and added a piece of leather lacing .
I showed it to him on Sunday and he absolutely loved it especially when he found out that the original neck pen is only 3" long .:D:D

I think that from now on I'll make a few pens like this and I can always use the lower end of the key ring for the top of a pen designed for a desk set .

Far out, thats inventive. If you go to one of your local fabric shops you will find some different things to use for the rope. I can't tell for sure but it looks like you may have used a leather lace? I have a hunch that it will be mostly the Ladies interested in them so you may want to dress them up a bit.

Sorry about the show, Doug! Looks like the markets are very mixed up this year.

Very good idea with the lanyard pen! The necklace pens have the problem that the refills are not easlily available. I know a regula refill can be cut, but customers don't want to do that, and I don't blame them. Same with some desk pens that are supposed to use a short refill. The ones I made were modified for a regular refill. Now I make them with a slimiline kit.

Neat idea. I teach school so this would make a good gift for a few special friends, whom I hope show them off and will in turn provide some sales among the staff. I wonder if I can get some red ink refills? You know how teaches LOVE that red ink!

Red refills are not easy to get! WalMart carries only black, and Staples carries blue also. I found red at the Cross site:
