Awhile back, I obtained some vintage bakelite from an IAP member. Believe it or not, I didn't touch if for about 3 years:rolleyes:

After making a few elegant Emperor kits, I decided to mate this blank with the Emperor. I think the gold in the Emperor nicely sets off the cream colors in the blank. With the two different tips, it can be used as either a rollerball or fountain pen.

C & C welcome.

That is a very elegant look...nice turning and finish, with an excellent choice of hardware.

Was this color achieved by painting the hole and/or tube? I have some octagon (or hex, cannot remember) shape bakelite rod that is white/cream swirl (with a light surface yellowing patina that is immediately removed as you start turning). This came from Roy, and am wondering if that is the same bakelite?

Jim, thank you. It was a great blank - I'm just sorry I had only one.

Brian, thank you, my friend! It's good to see you back here on IAP.

Jim & Cody, I appreciate it!

Mark, thanks for the compliments on the pen and the photos.

Steve, the color is the actual color of the blank. I didn't even think of painting the tube (I probably should have). I was afraid of losing some of the swirl, but fortunately it was still there after turning.

Great looking pen.

Anyone know where I can get this blank material. Have a special gift I would like to give someone and this would be great .
