I picked up a few very unusual Afzelia Burl blanks recently which I had never seen before in this type of wood with the added benifit of the pattern being on all four sides. I've seen this maybe twice in 30 some years in maple on on all four sides but no other woods.

On a full size Emperor F.P. with a CA finish polished and buffed out.
Can say much more about the wood, the picture tells the story
Also pictured some squared blanks.

Thanks for looking, Keith "mrburls"

Really nice - that burl deserved a full size pen - very nice job! I have a piece of afzelia that just moved up my turning list!

Absolutely beautiful. A first class pen.

I'm curious...did you give any thought at all of including the different color wood at the other end of the blank in the pen?

I know that many people are put off by a pen with "off color" wood, but I really like them.

The blank I used for this pen was all heartwood without any sap. The others with sapwood I have not turned yet and one I sold.
