Variations on a theme

I entered two of these pens in the Summer Extravaganza. The rollerball took second place and the cigar took first place. For the ball point contest I debated between the cigar, the coyote, the sierra and the bolt action shown. The bolt action was out because I drilled slightly off center. I felt the cigar showed off the blanks best, although the sierra with the segmented end caps was a strong contender.

I included two short blanks as well as a section of the highlight strip to give you an idea how I put them together.

After taking the first picture I noticed the cap wasn't all the way screwed in on the roller ball. The segments actually line up perfectly when screwed in correctly! Sorry about cutting off the tops in the second picture, they actually didn't change from one picture to the next...
