My unhappy Sumac pen in which I am going to redo once more with another kit and learn how to stabilize the wood before turning it. The kit is Chicago from CSUSA. I for one do not like it cause it is too short for me, but like I always say, to each his own. I will prob give this to the customer and not charge him for it.

Cherie, both pens look nice. I think the Manhattan is an alright pen but it feels cheap to me. The Chicago has some heft for its size but is short. The cap must be posted to make it a full size pen.

It looks pretty short next to the other one. Not a bad overall looking kit though, just no WOW factor. I do like the pen on the right in the last pic though, pretty pen!

I'm still stabilizing the cheap way....thin CA soaked into the blank, turn down a little and re-apply thin CA...repeat until size needed. I turn quite a lot of spalted woods, and it seems hard to throw out the super spalted stuff(but it is often the punkiest pieces).

Does seem a little short, what is the length capped?

BTW, purty stuff!
