I have been in discussions with a German manufacturer of Ebonite regarding becoming a distributor of their product. I was sent some small samples of all of their colors as well as a large block to play around with. I cut a blank today and thought it would work well with the "Ultra Cigar" from Berea.

I found the material easy to turn and was surprised at how well it polished considering the things I've read to the contrary. There was definitely a sulfur smell while working with the material but it wasn't overwhelming at all.

Blank was sanded to 600 and MM to 12000. Buffed using the Beall Wood Buff system.

I agree that it's a pretty "Blingy" kit and probably not one I'd carry myself but I have sold a few. It's definitely not a kit for a busy blank (I did one in one of our 'Burls & Swirls' blanks and almost entered it in the ugly pen contest). I actually find them to be somewhat attractive with a solid blank. This is probably my favorite one to date.

Thanks for the comments.
