....one is a Virage with a Rosewood blank; the other is a Penn State Fly Fishing pen with an Alumilite "Fly Tyer" blank from Michael Madanick.

I had an 'interesting' time turning the Alumilite, but Mike suggested I was turning it too slowly. I was turning about 1200 rpm and getting a lot of little chips at first. I was concerned that the chips might continue down to the very nice image Mike had on the blank. I took a long time, using VERY light pressure and was able to get the desired result. Mike suggested I should be turning at 3000 rpm. I will try that when (and if) I try another.

I saw the Virage pens at a vendor at the Embarcadero in San Francisco and thought I would like to try them. This is one of three that I have turned thus far.

Your thoughts/comments are most appreciated.
