After messing with segmenting and spending a whole lot of time on this, I am not really happy with the look, but thought I'd share. My son immediately said it looked like a finger puzzle (the right one). I like the patriotic blank on the left. It's a very easy pen to make.. I don't think I will be doing any more of the 'wings" type. But, live and learn, I guess. I may make another all blue pen then switch the parts to tone it down a little.

That "wing segmented" piece looks great! You made many small pieces appealing. Try the same concept by altering the length of the wings and reducing the number of parts for a different and less times consuming piece. Your patience really paid off on this one.

Looks like you had the same problem I did with "dirt" in the glue joints. It's probably scratches filled with glue?? Anyhow, I didn't like it on mine -- gonna have to improve that:confused:

Great looking pens. Like them both!!
