Two more from the batch of "found wood" I stabilized a few days ago ( prior post ).

I was surprised how nice the darker one finished up - it's got a real depth to it that I don't see in the photo. The wood came from a parking lot where a tree was being used as a car stop rather than your typical post. The tree had died and was rotting and falling apart, and wouldn't you know... this chunk fell into my trunk... This is destined to be a gift for someone who has a connection to that parking lot. For grins I included a photo of the wood it came from - not sure why it went so dark brown when I stabilized it. It's got a bit of a worthless wood character as I had to fill a blow out on the end with epoxy.

Looks in the photo like I left the lighter one of the two a bit proud for the nib.

Funny how you notice the bad things in a picture when you get to looking at it, and the good things don't manage to show up... :)
