I finished that robusto kit. I learned some things I'd have done differently, but in all, my first non-slimline pen was successful. I also found a wood with a scent that I like better than Walnut: Tulipwood. Oh, it smells like a boquet of flowers and doesn't look half bad either. I think my mandrel is bent, too.

Congrats on moving up to a bigger kit, many more choices and options to explore!

Easiest solution for a bent mandrel is to throw it away and turn between centers! You will be thrilled with the difference it makes, and when you are making the larger pens, you do not need the same type of symetry that you do with slims...give it a try! If you want your shop to smell fantastic, turn some olivewood!:D
