Those are two beautiful pens! Turning, finish and photography are excellent.

...I got 3-4 varieties of Palm several years ago, I need to make a matching set with each variety.

I too, worked with palm once. Cutting down dead palm trees for my church in Texas. Never thought to save any because, as an Indiana redneck, it was hard on my 5.5hp Husqvarna chain saw with 3/8 full chisel chain, normally used for easier stuff like Oak, hickory and hard rock maple.

Beautiful pens with very nice color in the wood. I've made a couple bottle stoppers from Black Palm. It was certainly a bit more challenging then other woods.

Depending on the type of palm I will drill the hole and then soak in minwax wood hardener. This along with sharp tools really help with chip out that is notorious for this species.
