Hello Happy Pen Turners,

I spent 10 hours cutting, shaping and gluing this. I was given the abalone form northern Calif. Each piece is individually sanded with a Dremel mini sanding drum to get more gluing surface. Then carefully turned and filled and sanded and finished with Ca.

Boy, I hope you all like it. This a special order pen. Way too much time. thanks for looking.

Laurie, that is a fantastic pen, just be very careful cutting, grinding or sanding Abalone, it can cause respiratory fibrosis, same holds true for any shell or coral,
I've had several friends shorten their lives cutting shell for jewelry, best done under a water mist, to hold down the dust. [xx(][xx(][xx(]

I want to thank you for your kind words. and be rest assured that I took all kinds of precautions to hold down the dust. a lot of the sanding was done with a delta countertop disc santer that has a 30x1 in belt sander and that was attached to the shop vac and was out side. this was fun and an experience.
