Frank told me there's this new transparent wood, so I had to try some. :D
I will be turning a few cast resin pens and wanted to practice on something.
I got some free corian samples at our WW'ing club meeting last month.
So, I turned these earlier this week, Black enamel fancy slimlines:

I found them fairly easy to drill and turn; probably beginner's luck.

Gary,

If I read your intro right, you are hoping to prepare for "transparent wood". Corian is NOTHING like resin.

If you have some of the blanks from Gina, turning bowling ball blanks is the closest similar material. The real difficulty with the skins is the thickness at the ends. Tearing through the plastic and ruining a skin happens regularly. Have a good supply of "oops ring" material of your choice available.[:)]
