Nice looking pen. I will however tell you what I have been told in the past, put you clip mostly out of the shot so we can see that wonderful piece of wood better.

Mike, nice point, that slipped me completely.
I will make sure to roll the clip more out of the way in the future.

In retrospect now, I think this one is a little dark.

Nice Pen, Ronald.
What can be seen of the Blank, looks Great.
I am not familiar with the Texas Red Drummond Maple, How dark was it before you dyed it Dark Blue?
Excellent Fit and Finish.
On the Nib there seems to be several marks, are they Battle Scars? Reflections? or What?
Congratulations,
Brian.

Good catches and made me look more closely.
I am still working to perfect my CA finish, and the wood is not as good as I like; but, I think the nib is OK. There are some spots that I think came from the reflections and digitization by the camera.

Drummond Red Maple

Brian, my apologies for missing your question.
The Drummond Red Maple is acer rubrum,
the Sugar Maple is acer saccharum.
The basic wood is very white like a sugar maple and has the same kind of curly/figuring. The spalting differs from a gray shade to brown lines.
The blue allows the figuring to glisten, may be a little dark.
Some new blanks are stabilized dyed blue and not as dark and should look good for the glisten of the figuring.
