Here's a Chrome Baron wrapped in Thuya Burl . I tried a CA (only) finish a friend wrote out for me , and was pretty pleased with it . It is a little proud at the finial end , and there is a small chip where I took off the bushings . The photos are still an issue for me , as they still don't look focused . At least they're not grainy like the blue Sierra .

Thanks for looking , and as aways , comments are welcomed !

Thanks Kenny . I think I'll try to add this one to my album here . I had some issues with ridges but it worked out as I progressed . I'll get more comfortable with it . Thanks for the demo too !

Looks great! Don't finish with the bushing on, that'll prevent the chip out. I just finish between centers only. A drop of CA on a baggy, then dip the chip area into it, that'll fix it..with some sanding of course. I do love Thuya...but the smell gets old fast!

Thanks Jeff , if this happens again I'll remember that repair step . I coat my bushings with wax before mounting , but it just didn't work with this method , or I was a little too agressive in removing the bushings . Turning between centers is coming soon for me though .

As always , I appreciate your comments . Thanks !

Chuck, Are trying the method that Ken showed us at our Central Indiana meeting? I have adjusted my method a little more towards Kens and I seem to be more consistant. Looking forward to our next meeting!

Looks beautiful from here! The color looks great, too.

I got some thuya to try, Alton (greenmtnguy) brought it over to the shop
and I haven't gotten to it yet.. but I'm itching to try it..

BTW .. I attended a show Alton did on Saturday and saw a gorgeous
cocobolo pen. Hey .. I've got pen kits out the wazoo .. and I've got about
100 highly figured cocobolo blanks and 12 more board feet of cocobolo that
isn't even cut yet!

So .. why did I leave the show with a cocobolo streamline in my pocket?

It was that good..

YEE-EP ! That's the method . I remembered every detail from that demo ! Like a photo memory , Ron . And I'm 60 years old . No slowin' down THIS ole dog .

Actually , I cheated .... Had a video camera set up .

I started on that 24 pen order today , using Kens method . Well one pen , and it's still on the mandrel . Looks good , and I'll stick with it .

Thanks for the comments and I'm just having a little fun . See you at the next meeting !
