Completed these three pens this evening. The smaller one took some extra caution. The pink one is made from other blank leftovers. The orange one is very close to another pen shown recently, with a different clip. I am happy the way the pens turned out . Hope you like the design. Welcome comments and criticisms.

I use 0.8 mm pitch metric thread for cap to barrel and barrel to section.

( I do not make any threads inside the section, just glue in the sleeve of the nib unit. However I will be receiving the 7.9 mm tap for.Jowo units very soon. By gluing in the nib unit, nib unit complete are not swappable while on the other hand I can make the section n much slimmer yet strong using support of the sleeve.)

Thanks, Soumitra. . So the threads are 0.8mm pitch ... but what diameter for each of them ?

And are they single, double, or triple start ?

I like your pens very much. I really appreciate that you use clips. Never could understand pens without clips. They could sure make a mess in a shirt pocket.

I do not like to use taps and dies for the thread making, instead I make the threads on the lathe. So in theory I have no diameter restriction that way. However, l use mandrel s for turning the cap and barrel. I had made three sets( pairs) of mandrels 13 mm, 12.5 mm and 11.5 mm in the barrel to cap diameter. Generally I remain in these confines but that is not a binding. Mandrel making using my small and weak sieg clone lathe is a bit of a tedious work. My lathe is no good for working on hard steel rods, for wood and plastic s it is ok.

Sir I too feel that a pen is incomplete without clip. Problem here in India is availability of good clips. I had some clips bought from Beaufort ink.com and they are almost over. Sourcing from there is a bit troublesome due to the money blocked, customs problem and parcels getting misplaced etc, and all that for sheer non commercial hobby purpose. Even professional pen makers and vendors here, I am in touch with some, are equally troubled with the clip issue. Only relief is the local clips but in those the plating quality is not to my liking.

Soumitra,

Thank you for your reply about the thread sizes.
I congratulate you for your efforts in making all those threads on your own lathe.
That is a mountain of work.
I have, probably, the same Sieg clone lathe with the same limitations so I know how much work it is. . And I know how it is limited to mainly wood and plastics.

Thank you again, and keep up the good work. . It is always interesting and educational to view your work and read your posts.

Sincerely,
