I've never segmented acrylic before, and I have to say I didn't have much expectation for success. The blanks looked pretty dicey after they were drilled and trimmed. I used a piece of aluminum angle, waxed paper, and clamps to hold everything together. The blue is 0.10" pick guard material that I got off Ebay. The glue is medium CA. I cut the blanks at 45 degrees on my miter saw.

I've wanted to make Thin Blue Line pens for a while now, and went into this as just an experiment. But I'm very, very pleased with how they turned out.

I like the 45 degree angle. I also like the idea of the pick guard. I might steal that! I pour the blue and black then slice then glue, but I have a failure rate for some reason. Makes me not want to do them...

I do mine at a 90 degree, close to the clip then I send them off to Stan cook to engrave with badge number and sheriff's star.

You might want to think about having yours engraved if people want, though better prepare to be busy!

I've seen them with horizontal or vertical lines, but I like the 45 degree. I was surprised, though, at how wide the stripe ended up looking, considering the blue is only 0.10" thick.
