That's made from a Walrus WHAT? Oosic

A knife maker I know had a piece of oosic(fossilized penile bone from a Walrus). It was not the quality of material he wanted to use, so he decided to do the thing he thought the funniest with it. He gave it to me. Being an adventurous turner that I am, I thought what could happen. So I went to work on it. It turned a lot like any other bone. I used a Sterling Silver plated Cambridge Rollerball.

Did you put the end in thin CA to absorb it and fill the pores? What did you use for a finish?

I have a knife made 20+ years ago that has fossilized penile bone from a whale and it sure does bring some strange comments and looks from friends. Nice job on that pen

I sealed the pores with thin CA. Then sanded smooth and used Dr Pen Plus finish so the feel is not lost.
