Texas Ebony and a Bolt Action Tec in gunmetal

I made this last night for a co-worker transferring home to Brazil from Houston. He will be leaving with a piece of Texas in his pocket.

The kit is the Bolt Action Tec in gunmetal and the wood is Texas Ebony. The Texas Ebony was wonderful to turn and finishes well. I used six coats of thin CA to fill any pores, sanded smooth and polished on my buffer with a final coat of Ren. wax.

Beautiful job Dan, I love turning Texas ebony. Only problem is I can't hold on to them very long. Someone always needs them more than me.

I have a good source of it around these parts. I'll see if I can buy a few slabs that are somewhat dry, and can be cut into pen blank sizes.
