Here are a couple of variations of the Texas Flag Pen that I've been working on since getting some instruction from Monty during the Houston Area meeting.

I'm having fits with the PR blanks. It is easy to get the star cut out by an engraver, but it's not as easy filling in the hole. Epoxy and white paint turns yellowish; a new layer of white PR in the hole doesn't want to stay put; etc. I'm going to try having a white star cut out by an engraver to use as an insert, but not sure if it will work. This one has epoxy and white paint in the PR version, but up-close it doesn't look very good.

The wood version is very simple to do and, in my opinion, looks better.

Ditto. The star looks great. Remember, we are our worst critic. We're expecting perfection in our handmade world and some times 99 percent is as close as we get.

Looks like I teached ya good.:biggrin::biggrin:
The white acrylic should work fine for having a star cut out for an insert. Haven't had time to try mine yet. Hope to do so in the next week or so after I finish 2 end tables for my daughter.
