Blew up the first blank, got lucky on the second blank. This is my sixth 'completed' pen. I'm on a roll...
Model Number- Woodcraft #126665
Pen Style/Type- Classic American Style Screw Cap Fountain Pen
Wood Blank- AZ - Stabilized Sycamore Burl
Finish- Hut Friction Polish
Hardware- Cobalt Gold
In the early 1960’s one of my childhood chores was raking leaves in our front yard while my older brother mowed the lawn, after I finished. We only had one Sycamore tree in our yard. It might as well have been a thousand! At the time, I was always distressed at how many leaves one tree could drop on the ground. It seemed as though it was a million leaves a week, each and every fall. I wasn’t allowed to go play baseball until every one of those Sycamore leaves was off the ground! I didn’t always get to play baseball on Saturdays because of that Sycamore tree.
I made this pen out of Sycamore Burl as a reminded of days gone by. Raking the leaves, climbing in the tree on hot summer nights, while playing hide and seek.
I like this pen. It’s a keeper.
