I'm 1 for 3 for segmenting now (and 1 for 4 on trying to make a pen out of this kit).

Anyways, this is a black enamel bolt action. The main parts are green dyed box elder burl (maybe maple. I need to label my woods better). The center band is green malachite. The two thin strips separating them are black ebony.

It started chipping while turning so I just sanded it to the final diameter. Finished with walnut oil and doctors, around 12 coats. Glad I got one to work. C&C welcome.

Now to save up for a working band saw and a table saw since I don't have one of those.

Very Nice...

Watch out. Table saws and band saws can be at least as addictive as lathes. My beautiful wife has stopped me from finishing a cut list at 3AM.

You can always cut one more piece.
