That's a great looking pen for a first try!
I have 100-200 watch parts/gears that I've been saving to do one of those. This may be the inspiration I need.

i actually took a bunch of electrical meter bases apart and I have lots of gears and a analog numeric counter piecess I was going to add some lace alone with a brown painted tube to simulate leather to see how it would turn out as a steampunk styled pen.. good job!

I've got to ask, how do you make the blanks? I would have gears sticking out every where.

the blank is a CAPTG blank I am sorry I did not give him credit in the post with the photo. he does great work and this pen would not have happened without his generosity..
