Yes it is a CA finish but I did about 12 thin coats. Was worried with the sanding process about darkening it too much so lathed as smooth as I could, hit it with a 500 sand and went straight to the CA coats. Seem to have preserved the colour better than my last Buckeyed one. Got the kit through Pen State Industries

Looks great! I think the buckeye suits the kit. I find it's pretty heavy in the hand, not surprisingly. Does hubby enjoy writing with it?

So far so good...just made it yesterday. It is a heavy pen but he's a pretty solid guy so it suits him. He loves it
