I recived this wood from Jeff Powell (Workingforwood) this week to see if I could do anything with it. Jeff told me that Staghorn Sumac is common to have ants tunnell into the tree and tunnel stright up the grain, he send me some that were intresting as the ants had tunneled up and across the grain. I cast 6 yesterday and turned this today, had one blow out in the lower barrel and had to reglue it to the tube, that will teach me to keep my skew sharp. All comments welcome.

Very, very nice. I wish it wasn't so damn cold in my shop and outside. I want to try something like that. Oh well, next spring.

That is pretty awesome looking, especially the top barrel! Wish I knew this was possible a year ago. You should have seen the knarly root ball on that tree that I through into the fire due to the mass ant hole infestation.[V]
